• Do NOT wash neoprene in the washing machine! It can be cleaned with a homemade solution instead of special (and expensive) neoprene cleaner. Take a tub or large bucket of clean, cold, or at most lukewarm water and add one to two tablespoons of one of the following: baby shampoo, mild unscented soap, unscented laundry detergent, or a natural plant-based disinfectant. Wash the bondage bag by hand in the solution, then hang it to air dry.
• For a more thorough cleaning, especially if your bondage bag has a strong odor, fill a tub or large container with water and add a few cups of white vinegar and a few drops of a lightly scented essential oil. The vinegar disinfects and kills bacteria, while the essential oils mask the pungent vinegar smell with a fresher fragrance.
• Absolutely avoid direct sunlight during storage! UV rays degrade neoprene extremely quickly, leading to stiffening, cracking, and stretching. Over time, this impairs the properties of the neoprene bondage bag, making it very stretchy and cold.
• Use an extra-wide hanger (you can even use several at once) to better distribute the weight and prevent stretching in the shoulder area. First, dry the bondage bag inside out with the zippers open, and only turn it right side out once that side is dry. This prevents musty odors and mold and ensures even drying.
• After washing, thoroughly dry the metal parts with a towel. Never use a tumble dryer or radiator, as heat will damage neoprene! It's best to let it air dry.
